Personal support across Hamilton
Personal care is scheduled around your family member's routine: a morning visit to get up, washed and dressed, an evening visit to get ready for bed, or both.
If your family member already receives publicly funded personal support through Ontario Health atHome, we can add private visits around that schedule to fill the gaps.

Personal Care: Common Questions
What is a PSW?
A personal support worker (PSW) is a caregiver trained to help with personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility. We'll tell you who your caregiver is and what training they have before care starts.
My mother is embarrassed about needing help with bathing. How do you handle that?
Very commonly. Caregivers start slowly, explain each step, and keep your mother covered and in control of as much as she can do herself. Meeting the caregiver first usually helps a great deal.
Can personal care visits be short?
Yes. Many families book a focused morning or evening visit. Tell us the routine you need and we'll confirm the visit length during your consultation.
How quickly can care start?
Often within a few days of your consultation, and sometimes sooner. If you need help urgently, for example for a hospital discharge, call us at (226) 506-7013 and we'll tell you straight away what we can arrange.
How much does home care cost?
It depends on the type of care and how many hours you need. At your free consultation we'll recommend a care plan and tell you exactly what it will cost before anything starts, with no obligation. Some private insurance plans and Veterans Affairs Canada programs help with the cost of home care, so it's worth checking your coverage.
Will we have the same caregiver?
We aim to keep the same caregiver, or a small consistent team, for every client. If a change is needed, we tell you ahead of time and introduce the new caregiver.
